Lake Naomi and the Lake Naomi Club
Pocono Pines is known for established lake living, and Lake Naomi is the biggest attraction in the area. The private Lake Naomi Club runs the lake activities, pools, sports, fitness and community events.
Not every home in Pocono Pines comes with a club membership. The club offers membership to property owners in Lake Naomi and Timber Trails, and an owner who wants to join applies and pays the club's fees. For 2026, the club lists a one-time $5,000 application fee and an $8,000 initial capital contribution (or a five-year payment plan), plus yearly dues of $3,980 to $5,970 depending on the membership type. Paid in full, the first year comes to about $17,000 to $19,000.
Owners in Lake Naomi also pay a yearly assessment to the Pocono Pines Community Association ($1,058 for a house in 2026), whether or not they join the club. Timber Trails is a gated community with its own association fee ($2,890 for a house in 2026).
Ryth's take
Of course, check the rules of the HOA. Each community has different rules, and some have more restrictions. Your realtor has to check them and give you the community's policies before you buy.
Getting around
- Route 940 runs through Pocono Pines, and I-380 is a few minutes east at Pocono Summit.

- Stroudsburg is about 30 minutes away, Scranton about 40 minutes and New York City about 2 hours.
What to check before you buy
- The community's rules and policies, including any limits on renting. Ryth gets them for you before you make an offer.
- Lake Naomi Club membership. Confirm the home is eligible, and budget for the application fee, the capital contribution and the yearly dues.
- Lake access, in writing. Whether a home has lake rights depends on the community.
- Private roads and winter plowing.
- Well, septic and radon inspections.
- Rental rules, if you plan to rent. Tobyhanna Township licenses short-term rentals for up to 2 guests per bedroom plus 2. In Lake Naomi, renters can use the club only through its Temporary Membership program: the owner has to join at the family level, pay a $175 yearly rental registration fee and meet the club's minimum stay.
